Check Results during Solving Process
ANSYS Workbench Tips: Wondering how it is going with solution? Wait too long until solution is finished? Hope to discover the solution is going wrong and stop it before wasting too much time? In previous versions, ANSYS offers some simple monitor tools to control solving process. In V12, ANSYS presents a complete solution for it. This article shows how.
Tips: Check results during solving process
This is a long-waited function. When we run an analysis which takes long time, such as non-linear static analysis, transient dynamics or explicit dynamics analyses, we want to know how it is going. If it is going wrong or not as we expected, we can stop it before it takes too much time. In ANSYS previous version, there are so-called monitor tools, by which we can check for example, displacement for one or more points, contact pressure or node number which are in contact, etc. It is far from enough. Lucky in V12, we can do postprocessing on the completed part of results file. Postprocessing here means normal postprocessing we can perform in Workbench.
The limitation is that we have to run analysis in a remote compute or as a background process.
Here we use an explicit dynamics example to show how to check results during solving process. First insert desired results at suitable time points. We cannot insert new result request during solving process.
Now we can send the job to a remote computer or set it as a background process:
After solving process passes pre-defined time point, right-click on the result items and choose “Evaluate All Results”:
We will get result at pre-defined time point now:
And we can post-process on the completed result part as usually, for example Capped Isosurface:
For those results items whose specific time points are not solved, the results at latest solved time will be presented. Such as in here, we want total deformation at time=3E-3 which is not reached, the result at time=1.9E-3 are given instead.
