What does it mean to be BuildHospitalLive Certified?
EDR is one of the teams which broke the traditional barriers of the industry and collaborated and shared openly wins and difficulties in the BuildHospitalLive process. EDR exemplify a new breed of in the industry that are ready and eager to collaborate and use buildingSMART tools and processes. The first step is to be willing to make the cultural shift, the tools are just tools and are used to support the process. The results speak for themselves. In a short 72 hours, EDR among other teams across the globe who had never collaborated before, made the connection.
WHAT EDR DID:
Created detailed Tekla Structural Solution. Took the requirements and layout of the BHL project from IFC files
which were then imported into TEKLA. In TEKLA more levels of detail were added and
a structural model emerged with details including a recommended structural system, floor system,
column grid and detail connections. Presented results and process in Oslo.

70 architects, planners, engineers, facility managers, building owners and industry experts
from 14 countries completed in 72 hours the planning and design of a hospital in Norway.
BuildHospitalLive 2009 fostered collaboration using open standards in the medical industry.
Participants accomplished in three days what would have taken months in
a regular project setting and revolutionized the hospital planning process.
