ANSYS Tutorial: Alternate Accounts with RSM

ANSYS Workbench Tutorial: How to send job to a remote computing server on which you have a different account or on which you have no account but your colleagues have? The permanent solution is to ask IT administrator to create a new account for you. But sometimes it is the most unpractical way. ANSYS RSM 12.1 has a new feature to solve the problem easily. Here are detailed descriptions on how to run jobs under alternate accounts with RSM.

Alternate accounts allow the client user to run jobs under an alternate account on a specific RSM Compute Server. The primary or owner account is considered to be the account under which the user is communicating with RSM. This is generally the account under which the user logons the local computer and starts applications such as Workbench. Alternate accounts are then added to the owner account.

To assign alternate accounts in RSM, we first start Password Application and set user name and password for an alternate account:

As shown in the following figure, the primary account is EDRLAN\Chouping and we set up an alternate account for EDRLAN\Klas:

Now start Account Dialog:

The new-added alternate account now is on the list. We specify a remote server where the account should be used. Here it is monster4.

We go back to Workbench and send a job to monster4:

The job is now running under account EDRLAN\Klas on remote server monster4:
